Trackbike walkthrough pt.1

Up on the lift and ready for stripping down to the bare necessities. I’d spent the better part of the week getting the garage set up as a shop. I ordered the Handy Lift from the local dealer here in town after seeing one in use at Rising Wolf in NYC. For anyone who wants to do any work on a bike I’d highly recommend a lift – so far it’s made all the work a dream
The first task was to remove the fairings. The side fairings are secured by 4 screws under the bike, 3 screws that connect the front fairing to the side fairing, and two frame bolts – one mid-fairing and one by the footpegs. The lower fairing can remain attached to the upper for easier removal.
With the fairings removed it was time to tackle the tail fairing. Removing the side pieces is super easy. Remove the two frame bolts on the side and the two small screws on the top rear and the pieces pull out nicely.
With the sides off of the tail, there was plenty of access room to the seat box, tail electrical and light mounts. Along with all of the usual suspects like turn signals and brake lights I had to remove the Scorpio alarm I had installed after the some crackheads tried to jimmy the ignition. After unplugging all of the wiring it was time to drop the seat box out from under the frame. As you can see above, there are two screws on either side of the brake light which need to be removed to drop the light off.
On the inside of the box and the back of the light there are two screws that needed to be removed to drop the back of the box off. There was a spacer between the box and the light casting – a surprise when pieces started falling onto the lift :)
The front of the seat box was held into place by the converter – unscrewing them both freed up the entire box. The only tricky part with this was the angle to unscrew them since you had to come up from under the seat and inside.
